THERAPY WITH ALYSSA

Change, even good change, can feel hard and scary. The work of therapy isn’t so much about getting rid of all the scary and hard things in your life, it’s about giving you tools and a new framework that can help you move through struggles with more confidence and ease. I’ve been where you are, which means I can meet you where you are now and gently guide you to where you want to be.

Therapy is not an overnight process, and it’s anything but linear. I’ll be with you every step of the way to help you take small, sustainable steps to get you to where you want to be.

You will have a safe space to share the good things, the hard things, and most definitely the awkward things with me. I believe in the power of therapy wholeheartedly. It’s through the relationship that you and I create together that facilitates powerful transformation from where you are to where you are meant to be.

ABOUT ALYSSA

I’ve been told that sitting with me is like sitting with a great friend over coffee- warm, grounding, silly, and safe. Yes, I’m an experienced and knowledgeable therapist, but I’m also a human first. I aim to provide a comfortable space for you to grow, change, and heal.

I take a mind-body-spirit approach to healing. You are a whole person, after all, not a problem to be fixed. I utilize what I’ve learned from my own experiences plus my 10+ years of clinical experience, education, and training to guide you to become who you are meant to be with more ease.

It can be so disheartening and frustrating to feel like you’re not living the life you are meant to. On top of that, knowing where to start can feel overwhelming and confusing. You are not alone. I have felt this way before, and I know that other women have as well. Together, we can move you towards the life you deserve to live.

I am a licensed psychotherapist. I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University, and I am licensed to see clients who live in New York and Connecticut. I am also a certified Koru Mindfulness teacher and utilize mindfulness and meditation practices in your treatment when appropriate.

WHY KNOT + CLOVER?

The name Knot + Clover best represents my services and mission.

Knots are symbols of strength, interconnectedness and wisdom. Similarly, through individual therapy, I offer women support and the tools to guide them to a connected, wiser self.

The saying “to live in clover” means to live a carefree life of ease, comfort, or prosperity. I help women believe in themselves and enjoy their success, so they may live in clover.

FAQs

Absolutely! My passion is working with anyone who identifies as a woman, including trans women and members of the LGBTQIA community. Therapy with me is a safe and welcoming space for you to come as you are.

At this time, all services are offered via telehealth only. I see clients who live anywhere in New York or Connecticut. Telehealth, or online therapy, allows for the same level of quality and care as in-person sessions but from the comfort of your home.

No, I do not accept insurance. Upon request, should you choose to use out-of-network benefits, I can give you a superbill at the end of every month to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company, and you may be reimbursed. Be sure to check with your insurance provider regarding out-of-network benefits before starting therapy.

I believe in being fully transparent with my clients. It’s important for you to know the pros and cons of using out-of-network benefits versus paying privately for therapy. Assuring your privacy and giving you the best treatment possible are my priorities.

Should you choose to use your out-of-network benefits, I am required to give you a mental health diagnosis that will become a part of your health record. Your insurance plan may dictate the number of sessions that you can have, how often you can see me, and if you’re able to see me via telehealth. Your insurance company can also ask me for records of the content of our sessions. Should you choose to pay privately, a mental health diagnosis is not required and there is no limit on the frequency or duration of sessions. Your privacy and records are protected and you are free to see me online or in-person.

I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone call to make sure! I want you to feel as comfortable as possible going into our first session together. If for some reason we discover on our phone call that I’m not the best fit for you and your needs, I will happily connect you to other therapists who may be a better fit. I look forward to hearing from you!

Can you help me if I am not biologically female?

Absolutely! My passion is working with anyone who identifies as a woman, including trans women and members of the LGBTQIA community. Therapy with me is a safe and welcoming space for you to come as you are.
