About Alyssa Prete | Founder of Knot + Clover

I’ve been told that sitting with me feels like sitting with a close friend over coffee — warm, grounding, a little silly, and safe. That sense of ease and connection is intentional. Therapy should feel like a place where you can exhale, not perform.

I’m Alyssa Prete, a licensed therapist for women in Harrison, NY, and the founder of Knot + Clover. I provide online therapy for women in Connecticut and New York who are navigating anxiety, panic, OCD, ADHD, burnout, and the emotional weight that often comes with high expectations, responsibility, and helping roles.

My Approach to Therapy

I take a mind–body–spirit approach to therapy because mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum. You’re not just a set of symptoms — you’re a whole person with a nervous system that has adapted to what you’ve been carrying.

My work is shaped by more than 15 years of clinical experience, education, and training, along with my own lived experience. I believe therapy should feel human, grounded, and practical — not rigid, overwhelming, or disconnected from real life.

Together, we look at the full picture of what’s impacting your wellbeing. That often includes sleep, nutrition, movement, mental load, nervous system regulation, spiritual connection, and self-compassion. We pay attention to what’s supporting you, what’s draining you, and where anxiety, ADHD, burnout, or long-standing patterns may be creating hidden barriers. From there, we focus on small, sustainable changes that respect your capacity and the way your brain works.

Who I Work With

As a therapist for women in Harrison, NY, I specialize in working with women who often appear capable, competent, and “together” on the outside, while feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected on the inside.

Many of the women I work with:

If you’re frustrated that your life doesn’t look or feel the way you imagined — or if you’ve been pushing through for a long time — you’re not alone. I’ve been there too, and I know how isolating it can feel.

What Therapy With Me Is Like

Choosing to begin therapy is a meaningful investment in yourself. You’re offering your time, energy, and financial resources in service of your healing — and I hold that with a great deal of care and respect. I don’t take lightly the trust it takes to show up honestly and do this work.

Therapy with me is warm, conversational, and collaborative. We move at a pace that feels safe, with room for curiosity, humor, and honesty. You don’t need to arrive with the right words or a clear plan — we figure things out together.

A central part of our work often involves building genuine self-compassion, especially if you’ve spent years being hard on yourself or pushing past your limits. Over time, many clients notice they feel calmer in their bodies, clearer in their minds, and more confident in their decisions. Life doesn’t suddenly become perfect — but it often feels more manageable, more intentional, and more like your own.

What You Can Expect From This Work

Therapy isn’t about becoming a completely different person — it’s about creating space to understand yourself more clearly and respond to your life in a way that feels more aligned and supportive. As a therapist for women in Harrison, NY, I often work with clients who have spent years pushing through, holding it all together, or trying to meet expectations that don’t fully fit who they are.

In our work together, you can expect a balance of insight and action. We’ll explore patterns, thought processes, and nervous system responses, while also identifying practical ways to support yourself in your day-to-day life. That might include building more sustainable routines, setting boundaries that feel doable, or learning how to move through anxiety and overwhelm without getting stuck in them.

Over time, this work often leads to a greater sense of clarity, steadiness, and self-trust. You may find that you’re able to make decisions more confidently, relate to yourself with more compassion, and move through challenges without feeling as overwhelmed or alone.

Outside of therapy sessions

I approach therapy the same way I approach life: with curiosity, kindness, and a sense of humor — even when things feel messy. Outside of sessions, I love spending time with my husband and my puppy, Leo, who occasionally makes appearances on camera. I’m passionate about animals, iced coffee, home décor and fashion, ice cream, great TV, and Paul Rudd. I love music of all kinds, dance parties at home and in the car (responsibly), and I have a deep millennial appreciation for 90s music and Taylor Swift. One of the best moments of my life was being this close to the stage at an Alanis Morissette concert.

Credentials & Training

Before this starts to sound too much like a dating profile, here’s a bit about my professional background. I’m a licensed therapist and National Certified Counselor with over 15 years of experience. I received my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University and am licensed to work with clients in both New York and Connecticut.

I’m also a Certified ADHD & Executive Functioning Coach and a Certified Mindfulness & Meditation Teacher, which allows me to integrate practical tools and nervous-system–informed approaches into therapy in a way that’s realistic and supportive.
